Safe Horizons

Empowering Multicultural Women Against Domestic Violence (RACG) Project 103-2025-26

The AusPak Women Association (APWA) presents the “Safe Horizons” project, a comprehensive initiative designed to address the critical gap in culturally responsive domestic and family violence (DFV) support for multicultural women in Australia.

While mainstream services exist, women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds often face insurmountable barriers to accessing them, including language constraints, cultural stigma, and a lack of understanding of the Australian legal system.

In the next year we aim to:
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and culturally safe support to 50 women
escaping domestic violence.
• Deliver ten Legal and Financial Literacy Clinics, reaching a minimum of 100
multicultural women.
• Train five bilingual community facilitators to deliver respectful relationship education.
• Conduct five community education workshops, engaging at least 50 young people from
CALD backgrounds.
